Blumhouse Productions film ‘Firestarter’ finally has an OTT release date in India. The sci-fi horror film will premiere on Netflix India at the end of this week, on 12th November, 2023. ‘Firestarter’ released in theatres in the US in May 2022, but has largely been unavailable on Indian OTT since then. Fortunately, Indian film enthusiasts will finally get to watch Firestarter on Netflix India soon.
The science fiction horror film ‘Firestarter’ centres on a young girl, bestowed with the power of pyrokinesis. She is able to set things on fire by the power of her mind alone. Her parents too have their own superpowers of telekinesis and telepathy.
The film is adapted from Stephen King’s novel of the same name. It is a remake of the 1984 film, also called Firestarter. The screenplay is by Scott Teems, while the film is directed by Keith Thomas. Firestarter stars Zac Efron, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Sydney Lemmon, Kurtwood Smith, John Beasley, Michael Greyeyes and Gloria Reuben.
The official synopsis of Firestarter reads – “A couple desperately try to hide their daughter, Charlie, from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for turning fire into a weapon of mass destruction. Her father taught her how to defuse her power, but as Charlie turns 11, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. When a mysterious operative finally finds the family, he tries to seize Charlie once and for all — but she has other plans”.
