“Everything is fair in theater and war. And this is the war of theater.” This is a dialogue from the upcoming Bengali movie ‘Bogla Mama Jug Jug Jio’. The official trailer is out now and the movie looks fantastic.
The movie is directed by Dhrubo Banerjee and is based on the iconic character of Bagala Mama created by Rajkumar Maitra.
The film will tell the story of a middle aged funny theater fanatic with the name of Boglacharan Bhattacharya. He runs an actors’ gang full of young people and is very popular in town. He is hired by a powerful business, who is quite funny too, to have a drama played with grandeur in his locality. There is a cold war going on and the business wants his own power thrust upon even in the cultural domains because he was insulted by a headmaster. However, the preparation for a huge drama competition starts and as the story goes forward there are gigs and anecdotes that will make you burst out in laughter.
Bogla Mama Jug Jug Jio had Kharaj Mukherjee in the lead role and also has actors like Koushik Sen, Riddhi Sen, Rajatava Dutta, Aparajita Adhya and Ditipriya Roy in important roles. The performances are just great. The music and production design too are executed perfectly. Looks like Bogla Mama is going to be one of the few Bengali comedies that impress both critics and audiences. Bogla Mama hits the theaters on the 24th of November.
