Remember back in the days, in early and mid 2000s, every household used to atleast watch once watch Set Max and Zee Cinema, and there used to be some South Indian Hindi dubbed movie playing on it and everyone got hooked to it. That’s the power of South Indian movies, it can get anyone hooked to it and will make you fall in love with it. The stories, the actions are something that has always attracted an audience and it gets evident how good a movie is when it is being remade again by a different industry of the same country. This is where Bollywood comes in.
Bollywood at this point has an array of South Indian movie remakes that are scheduled to be shot or released soon. Some of these remakes are quite attention grabbing, like “Master”, “Vikram Vedha”, “Thadam”, “Nayattu” and so much more. Bollywood has always been attracted towards the action based South Indian movie and the reason behind this has been explained quite well by a known insider of the Bollywood.
As per an interview in a leading daily, it has been mentioned that South Indian movies always had edge when it came to action movies. They always used something more that was not quite well known in Bollywood during that time and that made South Indian movies world famous, Also, not to mention the stories, these movies. They aren’t just some unreal stories, they are stories that will entertain the masses, stories that are much relatable to the lives of the masses themselves. South Indian movies have always connected movies with their audience and hence the viewers always felt a connection with the movie and it was an instant hit.
Things like these are not quite the same in Bollywood. Bollywood for a while had been known to be the house of romantic movies. It gave the world the theme itself that tells people romantic fairy tales can exist in human life too. Bollywood still released big action movies once in a while and that did quite well, but the remakes Bollywood has been doing over the decades starting from actors like Dilip Kumar, have been better known and loved than others.
This connection with the masses is not always seen with Bollywood movies, because most of the time it’s based around unrealistic “Richie Rich” vibes, that Indians don’t connect with now. Remakes help these mass stories reach even more people than before. Also, we believe if someone watches a remake, one can be really curious about the original and with today’s availability in OTT, one can easily go back and check the original, which helps the original gain even more success.
Keeping all these aside, one definitely has to accept the love affair Bollywood has with South Indian movies and especially now with all the superhit action thrillers being remade with great grandiosity it has become even more evident. Also, how more and more movies are tuning pan-Indian, which makes it possible to release it in multiple languages, which easily includes Hindi and that in instance attracts the audience and has to not for dubbed versions, subtitles or remakes to be made.
At the end of the day, it is all about how great a story is and how good the action is in the action movies. Clearly, with the mass support and love South Indian movies receive they definitely are doing a great thing and this needs to reach more and more people, because the whole nation knows how much it has for action filled thriller movies.
So now, we are just waiting to witness how these remakes will turn out to be when it releases.
