If we see the history of Cinema then there has always been a distinction between art and charm. A few like Devanand, Raj Kapoor, Meena Kumari and Shahrukh Khan have been able to satisfy everyone. However, a majority of them focussed and got only one of them. Consider the case of Mithun Chakraborty. He was never considered to be a good actor but he enjoyed a massive fan following in his time. The case with the likes of Manoj Bajpayee and Sanjeev Kumar was totally opposite.
But now, times have changed. The Hindi Film Industry is more about glamour and social media than art. Sadly, the technology is so advanced that editors can manipulate it to change the performance of abd actors into a decent one. It doesn’t mean that someone like Sharmin Segal would finally look performing like Meena Kumari, but the absolutely despicable expressions can be enhanced.
Some Bollywood editors who have helmed big projects talked about fixing poor performance at the editing table. Tons of cameras and advanced software can enhance, and cut the frames and present us with a beautiful plastic performance.
The biggest dark side of this performance has to be the fact that audiences won’t have frames to call out bad acting. Nobody calls Ranbir Kapoor a nepotism product because he has continuously proved that he deserves to be an actor. However, the likes of unworthy people through the help of power and expensive editors will manipulate the audience. This advancement is indeed bad as actors will refuse to work hard and soon people will forget what an actual raw and great performance looks like.
