Needless to say, films are an art form but it is equally a commercial product that has several aspects attached to it. One of the biggest tussles of our present day cinema is the traditional cinema and the newly evolved OTT films. The traditional cinema as we all know is the one which gets released in theatres, and by the time it stays in theaters, people tend to enjoy it.
Well, Bollywood big producer Siddharth Roy Kapur has expressed his opinion on this issue.
Roy Kapur expressed his belief that the advent of streaming services, despite numerous advantages, has eliminated the need for a theatrical-style report card. He suggested that this lack of accountability can result in a certain level of creative indulgence, allowing filmmakers to follow their creative impulses without external constraints. This, in turn, might lead to a form of filmmaking that is less rigorous due to the absence of external influences imposing their will. As a consequence, he proposed that it could occasionally result in cinema that is less captivating, less engaging, and less watchable.
Do you find this true?
Yes, a lot of times OTT films are nothing but trash bins. Imagine the case of Haddi, Tiku Weds Shera and so many more films. Do you think that the makers believed in those films? Well, we don’t think so.
OTT needs quality and dedication as much as any theatrical project and there must not be any doubt about it.
