The upcoming revenge themed movie ‘Haddi’ is all set to start streaming on the Zee5 OTT platform from tomorrow, that is, 7th September onwards. The film features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role of a transgender Haddi, who relocates to the capital city Delhi and joins a group of transgenders in order to exact revenge from a powerful person. The movie also features Anurag Kashyap in a pivotal role.
Recently, some of the stakeholders of ‘Haddi’ have been dealing with some legal problems. Bollywood actor cum producer Vivek Oberoi though his firm had approached the Bombay High Court with a plea U/S 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 claiming that the firm and Sanjay Saha, Nandita Saha, and Radhika Nanda were partners of a company called Anandita Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (AEPL).
It was claimed that ‘Haddi’ was supposed to be allegedly co-produced under the banner of AEPL and the film was previously titled ‘Gunshe’. However, the respondents allegedly made the film with the name ‘Haddi’ under a different production company called Anandita Studios Pvt. Ltd. The petitioner wanted that ‘Haddi’ be stalled for its OTT release on the Zee5 streaming platform.
After hearing the case, the honorable High Court has refused to stay the release of the film ‘Haddi’. So, the movie will still be released on the Zee5 OTT platform on Thursday. The honorable court observed that staying the release of ‘Haddi’ would not protect anyone’s rights. Furthermore, it was also pointed out and apparently disapproved of the practice of approaching the Court at the eleventh hour to seek stay for the release of movies. The next hearing is set for 16th October.
