The latest report from Puck has revealed that prominent feature helmer Luca Guadagnino wants to delay the release of his upcoming directional project, Challengers, starring Zendaya.
Challengers will open the 80th Venice Film Festival next month. Guadagnino’s advice has surfaced amidst the ongoing actors’ strike. Although, Amazon will take the final decision about this scenario. Apart from Zendaya, the film stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor. The trio cannot participate in the film’s promotional work or represent it on the red carpet due to the actors’ strike.
The strike has delayed the release of several films and tv shows. Warner Bros also reportedly decided to do the same with Blue Beetle. They are yet to make an official announcement about the film’s release status. It all depends upon how long the strike persists.
Directed by Guadagnino and written by Justin Kuritzkes, the film will revolve around a Grand Slam tennis champion, who participates in a challenger event to compete against the former lover of his wife and coach.
Challengers will open this year’s Venice FF on August 30. It will come out in theaters on September 15. Stay tuned for more updates.
