If you happen to use Twitter and are active in seeing entertainment-related stuff then you must have seen something. It is #BoycottBollywood trend. It is so overused and consistent that it doesn’t make any sense and even after lakhs of tweets, a film like Pathaan crashes records.
But we do not see the same cancel culture in Hollywood. Until now.
Yes, people are trending a boycott call on Disney exactly the same way as we see in India. People disliked some content and are now calling to boycott it.
Regardless, you may be wondering what is the matter with Disney. Actually, this rage is against a DisneyPlus show “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder”. You might be aware that this animated show streams on Disney+Hotstar in India and is a DisneyPlus original.
It is meant to be even for kids as it comes under the Family category, but people have found a lot of problems with one scene of the series. The scene is about a performance where black girls are claiming “Slaves Built This Country” by giving various accounts of racism and discrimination.
This is not going well with many sections of Americans as they feel that it is reverse racism. If you are unaware, then reverse racism means hatred against white people.
