It seems like Twitterati are in no mood to forgive Aamir Khan! The Bollywood actor commented about “growing intolerance” in India a few years ago. His controversial statement triggered a large portion of netizens in the country. As a result, his upcoming Forrest Gump remake, Laal Singh Chaddha, is facing a severe backlash from numerous social media users days ahead of its theatrical release. They are demanding to boycott the movie.
When Laal Singh Chaddha’s trailer came out in May this year, some netizens started trending the above-mentioned hashtag heavily on Twitter. So, this is not the first time that the forthcoming Aamir Khan starrer is facing their wrath. Plus, those angry people have dragged Kareena Kapoor Khan into this matter.
“Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will,” Khan stated in 2015. The actor even revealed that he and his wife thought about leaving the country with their kids for safety reasons. Netizens are hailing him as anti-Hindu and anti-Bharat.
Khan’s last Bollywood project was Yash Raj’s Thugs of Hindostan with Vijay Krishna Acharya at the helm. The 300-crore disaster tanked at the box office and managed to collect only 335 crores.
Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha serves as the official Hindi remake of the 1994 Robert Zemeckis directional, starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. It will also mark the Hindi film debut of Naga Chaitanya. The film is slated to hit the theatres on August 11, 2022.
