A new teaser for the upcoming Wicked film, which opens in November, has been released. In the highly anticipated big screen adaptation, Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Tony nominee Ethan Slater as Boq, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, and Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond join the two leads, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande (Elphaba and Glinda, respectively).
It is based on Gregory Maguire’s best-selling book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The film will be released in two parts where the first part will be released on 22nd November while the second one will come out on 25th November 2025 in theatres.
The story revolves around Glinda, a popular young woman gilded by privilege and ambition who has yet to uncover her inner heart, and Elphaba, a young woman misunderstood because of her odd green skin and who has not yet discovered her true power.
In the fanciful Land of Oz, the two meet as students at Shiz University and develop an odd but meaningful connection. Their friendship comes to a crossroads after seeing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and their lives go in quite different directions.
The latest trailer reveals new footage of Ariana Granda, Cynthia Erivo, and the entire star cast of the two-part fantasy adaptation which has been in the works for over a decade. Only time will tell how the film performs at the box office and how much success it captures around the world on 22nd November 2024.
