There seems to be no upper limit when it comes to the consistent additions in an ever-expanding cast of Wes Anderson’s next film. Who cares, because for us, the more the merrier. The previous day, it was reported that ‘Black Widow’ actress Scarlett Johansson was the latest addition in Anderson’s yet-untitled film that is reportedly being shot in the town of Chinchon near Madrid in Spain.
And just a few hours earlier, it was made known (via THR) that ‘Breaking Bad’ actor Bryan Cranston along with talented performers Hope Davis (Captain America: Civil War), Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale), and Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Manchurian Candidate), were the newest cast members of the film. Bryan Cranston had earlier collaborated with Wes Anderson when he had lent his voice as the stray dog Chief, for the 2018 animated sci-fi comedy film ‘Isle of Dogs’.
To state that Anderson’s film already boasts of an ensemble cast would be cliched and a gross understatement. Because the illustrious line-up already includes some big names such as Tom Hanks, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Rupert Friend.
While the precise plot of Wes Anderson’s yet-untitled film is being kept under the wraps, the romantic comedy movie is said to be a love story set in Europe. It’s written and being directed by Anderson himself. The film’s shoot is expected to conclude in September later this year, that is, before the slated release of Anderson’s forthcoming romantic dramedy ‘The French Dispatch’ on 22nd October 2021.
For the unversed, Wes Anderson is a Texas-born highly regarded American filmmaker who is known for his distinctive directorial style. Such has been his influence on the cine-world that many critics consider him as a modern-day auteur. He has been nominated seven times for the Oscars for The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Isle of Dogs.
