OTT giant Netflix has ordered a heist thriller series titled ‘Jigsaw’ featuring Giancarlo Esposito, who is globally known for portraying Gus Fring in the cult series ‘Breaking Bad’ and its prequel show ‘Better Call Saul’. Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions is amongst the series’ producers.
The events of the Netflix show would revolve around the largest heist ever attempted and the vengeance, scheming, loyalties, and betrayals that surround it. Interestingly, the eight-episode series is set over a period of 25 years out of which 24 years would revolve around the planning and execution part of the heist and the remaining 1 year would follow events after the heist.
The most intriguing aspect of Netflix’s ‘Jigsaw’ series is its non-linear story format where audiences would ostensibly be able to select the order in which they can watch the first seven episodes. And it seems that the final episode of the series will conclude the goings-on of the whole story, so it would have to be watched at the end.
Netflix had earlier experimented, albeit in a dissimilar fashion, in the 2018 science fiction interactive film ‘Black Mirror: Bandersnatch’ where viewers could decide the course of the story by making decisions for the lead character, which resulted in multiple endings.
The plot of the Netflix ‘Jigsaw’ series is said to be loosely inspired by a real-life story that involved bonds worth an astounding $70 billion that went missing during Hurricane Sandy in Manhattan. ‘Jigsaw’ has already commenced its filming schedule at Netflix Studios in Brooklyn.
Other cast members besides five-times Primetime Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito, who plays a veteran thief in ‘Jigsaw’ Netflix series, have also been announced.
Paz Vega plays an attorney, Tati Gabrielle plays an intelligent and adaptable woman, Peter Mark Kendall plays a small-time smuggler, Jai Courtney plays a safecracker, Rosaline Elbay plays a demolitions expert, Rufus Sewell plays a security expert, and Niousha Noor plays an FBI agent in Netflix’s ‘Jigsaw’ series.
