Actor Jesse Plemons has landed the role of a lifetime. He will play the lead role in Martin Scorsese’s much-talked-about Apple TV feature ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon‘. Jesse Plemons will in fact play the role that was to have been played by Leonardo DiCaprio originally. He will portray the FBI Officer in charge of investigating a series of brutal murders that take place in the Osage Native American community.
The story of Killers Of The Flower Moon centres on a series of murders of wealthy Osage Native Americans in Oklahoma in the early 1920s, after oil deposits were discovered beneath their land. FBI Agent Tom White is assigned to get to the bottom of the murders, the role Plemons will play. Leonardo DiCaprio was to have played Tom White initially. He is now playing the character of Ernest Burkhart, the nephew of a powerful ranch-owner, while Lily Gladstone is playing Mollie Burkhart, an Osage married to Ernest. Robert De Niro is playing the role of the ranch-owner.
Jesse Plemons is known to TV audiences as the actor who portrayed the psychopathic villain Todd Alquist in Breaking Bad Season 5, as Ed Blumquist, husband of Peggy Blumquist, in Fargo Season 2, and as Robert Daly, a sadistic introvert, in the “USS Callister” episode in Black Mirror Season 4.
Killers Of The Flower Moon is Martin Scorsese’s most ambitious film yet. Touted as a $200M project, it was bagged by Apple TV Plus after a fierce bidding war for exclusive rights. Killers Of The Flower Moon will first be released in theatres worldwide, after which it will stream exclusively on Apple’s streaming service, Apple TV Plus.
