“Friends Fanatics”, you may rejoice! The turn of the century, television phenomenon ‘Friends’ is getting ready to make a reunion special which will come out next year. Plans have been made for the shoot to begin early next year with HBOMax getting ready to launch the “webisode” on its streaming service during the month of March.
Surprisingly Matthew Perry was the one who made this announcement, on twitter. The actor had been the one who notoriously caused most other reunions to be cancelled due to scheduling conflicts or other reasons (not always). Confirming the news, the primary leads of the show – David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), and Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) all shared the same post on social media. The reunion special was going to come out this year, but like everything else that got cancelled or held up in production – the coronavirus pandemic happened.
But don’t get too excited guys. So far what we know is that we will be viewing an unscripted reunion special, not a reunion episode. They will all be returning along with the ‘Friends’ co-creators and executive producers Marta Kauffman and David Crane to look back and reminisce about the show. But we will take what we are given, for we have been waiting for 16 years now.
The six leads will be paid in the region of $3-4 million dollars for appearing on this special reunion. It will be an hour long special, so each actor will be approximately be paid $50,000 – $67,000 per minute. Holy moly!
If you guys are missing this brilliant series, catch all 10 seasons of ‘Friends’ on Netflix.
Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March. Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that’s the way I like it!
