The ‘Game Of Thrones’ prequel series ‘House of the Dragon’ has got its first lead actor – English veteran Paddy Considine. Considine is no stranger to the HBO audience, having previously worked on ‘The Outsider’ and ‘The Third Day’ (Both currently available on Disney+Hotstar).
The new HBO web-series ‘House of the Dragon’ will be set 300 years before the events of the recently concluded ‘Game of Thrones’ and follows the story of House Targaryan. The story will begin with Viserys I, who Considine will portray, and who will start his reign, 100 years after Aegon’s conquest. The King is chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A kind, and decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather’s legacy. But as we all know, good men do not necessarily make for great kings.
Vikings’ lead ‘Travis Fimmel’ is in consideration for the role of Viserys’s brother Prince Daemon Targaryen, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Paddy Considine also has acting credits for the following projects – ‘Peaky Blinders’, ‘Hot Fuzz’, ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’, ‘In America’ and ‘The Ferryman’. He wrote and directed the feature ‘Tyrannosaur’ and also wrote, directed and starred in ‘Journeyman’.
HBO has ordered for a 10-episode season just like ‘Game of Thrones’ with casting having begun this summer. George R.R. Martin co-created the series with Ryan Condal, based on Martin’s book “Fire & Blood.” Miguel Sapochnik and Condal will serve on the show as co-showrunners and will also serve as executive producers along with Martin and Vince Gerardis. Sara Lee Hess will work as a writer and executive producer. Sapochnik will also direct the pilot and additional episodes. He previously directed six episodes of “Game of Thrones,” including the famous “Hardhome,” “Battle of the Bastards,” and “Winds of Winter.”
The series is expected to release sometime during the year 2022.
