Hulu’s recent release ‘Framing Britney Spears‘ produced by The New York Times, now over a week old, continues to be the talk of the town! This documentary directed by Samantha Stark and written by Liz Day, is all about the entertainer Britney Spears’ journey, specially about her encounters with the insensitive & misogynist media and Britney’s legal battle with her own father over control of her finances. Now, Netflix has decided to join Hulu’s party by declaring its wish to release its own project revolving around the life of Britney.
This is the second time these two OTT platforms (Netflix and Hulu) will be working on the same documentary after Fyre Festival. True crime documentaries specialist Erin Lee Carr will be directing this upcoming Netflix project. The title and releasing date is yet to be announced by the makers.
Social media came out in support of Britney, soon after the release on Hulu. ‘We are sorry Britney’ was trending on Twitter and there have been calls for apologies from quite a few media houses and celebrities. Britney’s ex-partner and a contributor to her deteriorating mental health, Justin Timberlake, issued a public apology. Timberlake apologised for his behaviour, took accountability for his actions, and gave his acceptance to the industry being ‘flawed.’ It has been clearly depicted in the documentary that the behaviour towards Britney was unjust and it was definitely not what she deserved. Well again, Britney, we’re sorry and we can’t wait for Netflix to drop it’s version of your story!
