The Umbrella Academy is one of the most popular shows on Netflix. Given its huge buzz among young people, the fourth and final season is going to be a huge hit despite anything and everything that is thrown at the series.
But despite the fact that the show is a chartbuster, the claims of abuse must be taken seriously. Nobody deserves to be ill-treated and the creator of the show is no genius whose temper can be called a by-product of great filmmaking.
Regardless, all these claims are against the creator of The Umbrella Academy who is called Steve Blackman.
There are some serious allegations against the man and it is a culmination of all these years of abuse. We wonder why everyone waited for so long to voice their complaints but the media outlet “Rolling Stone” published a very detailed article on everything that people have to say against Steve Blackman.
According to the report, a pregnant woman joined the writer’s team without disclosing her pregnancy. When Blackman came to know about it, he fired the entire team instead of just the pregnant lady.
He bullied, manipulated and even showed retaliation when questioned. He even put staffers against each other. There are also allegations of sexist and homophobic remarks.
The most horrifying fact is that he stole credit for other people’s works.
But you know the worst part?
UCP, the production house behind The Umbrella Academy couldn’t even find substantial reasons to charge him. Netflix on the other hand has not even contacted all the individuals who faced a toxic environment under him.
The possible reason could be his $50 Million deal with Netflix for additional projects. Sadly, common and less powerful members of the industry will have to bear the torture because apparently there is no substantial proof even after so many complaints.
