If you guys didn’t know already, the anime, ‘Burning Kabaddi‘, has dropped its 12-episode first season on the anime-exclusive OTT platform, Crunchyroll. As the name suggests, this anime revolves around the contact team sport of Kabaddi, a sport that has its origins rooted in India. While the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League has done much to attract young aspiring Indian fans to the sport, ‘Burning Kabaddi’ will take its place as true inspiration and motivation for the younger and impressionable audiences, just like ‘Haikyu!!’ did for Japanese volleyball.
Animation and cartoons have always been one of the few things that most children (and even adults) watch as they grow up. These shows shape their morals, gives them inspiration and sets them challenges which they want to take up in life. And sports anime are an example that good, well-intended animation can bring about actual changes at an international level.
‘Haikyu!!’ managed to upend Japanese volleyball at a high school level, and have already become a huge inspiration to many volleyball players around the world. We expect ‘Burning Kabaddi’, to do just the same for the Kabaddi scene in India. Similar to the previously mentioned Volleyball anime series, ‘Burning Kabaddi’ gets a lot of Kabaddi techniques and terminologies right, according to sports fans. The show is quite accurate in showing the high school sport of kabaddi and keeps it as real as possible in pretty much every aspect of the game.
