It was to the utter joy of Disney fans that a sequel to the highly appreciated ‘Freaky Friday’ was officially announced sometime earlier this year! With its debut in 2003, the Jaime Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan starrer served as a heartfelt family comedy.
The plotline was simple yet indulging: Things take a turn for Tess and her daughter Anna (who do not get along well) when in a freak incident, they switch bodies and are forced to live each other’s lives. For the upcoming ‘Freaky Friday 2’, in addition to Curtis and Lohan returning as the mother-daughter duo, American actress Julia Butters is also officially onboard!
She received critical acclaim for her role as Trudi Frazer in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. From 2016 to 2020, she played the role of Anna-Kat Otto on ABC’s sitcom ‘American Housewife’. Her other credits also include ‘The Gray Man’, ‘The Fablemans’, and ‘I Think You Should Leave’.
However, her role and any further plot details for the long-gestating sequel have not yet been made public.
Nisha Ganatra, who most recently helmed episodes of the Hulu miniseries ‘Welcome to Chippendales’,however, has been tapped to serve as the director.
