2024 has already proved to be the year of book adaptations. Following the lead of ‘Three Body Problem’, ‘Dune: Part Two’, ‘A Gentleman in Moscow’, ‘Wicked’, and more, is now Amazon MGM’s newest psychological thriller.
Based on the international best-selling book by Catherine Ryan Howard ’56 Days’, the mystery series titled ‘Obsession’ is being headlined by actors Avan Jogia and Dove Cameron. The story follows Oliver and Ciara, who, after meeting randomly in a supermarket, fall for each other hook, line, and sinker.
56 days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified body — brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed. Who is the dead body? Him or her? Did he kill her or did she kill him? Sifting between timelines of an intense day in the ongoing criminal investigation and the twisted story of the lovers’ affair in the past, the series will serve as both: a crime story and an erotic, psychological thriller.
Canadian actor Jogia rose to fame for his role as teenage heartthrob Oliver Beck in Nickelodeon’s teen drama series ‘Victorious’ opposite Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice, and Elizabeth Gillies. American singer and actress Cameron rose to fame with her dual role of the eponymous characters in the Disney comedy series Liv and Maddie.
