A week before its US release date, Ridley Scott’s eagerly awaited Gladiator II is scheduled to make its Indian debut. The period drama will be available for early viewing in theaters on November 15 whereas US audiences will be able to see it starting on November 22.
The film’s first part was a huge success becoming the second highest-grossing film of the year. The film received accolades from critics for its production design, acting, directing, cinematography, and musical score. Among the five Academy Awards, the movie took home was Best Picture and Best Actor for Crowe.
Written by David Scarpa from a story he co-wrote with Peter Craig, the upcoming movie will be a sequel to Gladiator. Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Joe Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, and Pedro Pascal are among its cast members. Given the early release in India, makers would love to have a wider audience and are releasing the film in IMAX, 4DX, MX4D, ScreenX, and ICE formats.
In addition to that, the pre-bookings for the film have been opened by PVR INOX only for the above-mentioned formats. To gain more advantage, a complimentary popcorn and cola combo will be provided for free to the first 5,000 customers.
Given the amount of hype for the film worldwide, it might have a good box office showdown in the US and UK. As for India, it will be tough to predict as to how the film might turn out to be. While there are not many Gladiator fans in India, the film might gain some new if the reviews turn out to be good. Only time will tell how the film will perform in India given the high-profile formats it will be screened.
