Three episodes of ‘House Of The Dragon’ have been released up until now and it is going in a completely different direction than shown by its predecessor ‘Game Of Thrones’. ‘Game Of Throne’ was full of nudity and sexual scenes and was almost borderline pornographic. But its prequel has no nudity except for the one scene where the backside of Matt Smith is visible.
Though sex, nudity, curses, and swear words are very vital points for the sake of realism and relatability to the audiences of the real world, there are backdrops for having them in any show. The Indian audience for ‘Game Of Thrones’ is generally the youth. That is why there was no consideration of reducing the elements of nudity. But there are a lot of people missing out from the audience for having those mature moments. The older generation is not too comfortable with nudity. This affects the views of any show. Some people, on the other hand, like to watch films and shows with their families and children. Any kind of sexually explicit content makes these viewers embarrassed. The elimination of such things in ‘House Of Dragons’ will allow older generations to luke them, talk about them and spread the fandom.
‘Rings Of Power’ follows the example of ‘House Of Dragons’ till now. This recent trend being shown by the frontrunners of the industry can be a game-changer for OTT platforms. There is definitely going to be a boom in the views at least in India, given the quality of the show is not compromised. ‘House Of Dragons’ will have more audiences in India for having no nudity.
