It was the first quarter of 2020. A web series by the name of Asur was getting heavily marketed by Voot Select. When the series actually released then it created a sort of havoc in the Indian OTT space. The content was not only original but something Indians had never seen or imagined.
It remained in buzz for quite some time but just like every other title, it had its life and people moved on from it. To date, Asur remains one of the best Indian series and the only achievement of Voot Select.
After that, there has been nothing appreciable from the platform and it is now left far behind in the competition.
But just a few days back, Voot Select dropped the trailer of London Files. It is a story of a detective Om Singh played by Arjun Rampal in his typical intense style.
He is suffering from a mental condition and the reason behind is the disappearance of his son, which he is incapable of investigating. But he meets people who enlighten him that the actual picture is much bigger than the disappearance of a boy.
What further happens is in the series but it definitely looks promising. If they market it well and the series comes out to be really good then it may very well bring Voot Select back to the competition.
There is no way it would start competing with giants like Disney+Hotstar or Prime Video for that matter, but it definitely can draw attention which it badly needs.
