Regional Telugu Exclusive OTT Platform, Aha Video called for a Special Pressmeet at Hyderabad’s Press Club and outlined the measures it is going to take against the piracy of its February 5th Release, Krack. Arha Media and Broadcasting Private Limited (Arha), the owners of aha OTT has deployed a company to tackle the menace of piracy and also a helpline to report any complaints.
The problem seems to be simple and familiar to the film industry but is going to be a serious concern for the OTT industry. Apart from the traditional piracy sources and torrent sites, popular messaging app – Telegram has compounded the woes of the filmmakers and the OTT platforms. The original rips of the films are being available on the Telegram app in minutes after the launch and they are so easy to become viral.
The problem is persisting even for the costly OTT platforms like Netflix and those reasonably priced ones like Aha Video. Filmmakers have tried various ways to tackle the menace and later came up with ways to minimize the losses due to piracy. Moreover, there are no co-ordinate efforts from the filmmakers to combat the menace. As a result, piracy continues to exist. It has to be seen how the OTT platforms
