Dark comedies are extremely risky to promote and release as a short hit or miss might cancel the film over the internet. Prabhu Deva comes in with a huge risk of portraying a corpse in his upcoming dark comedy drama Jolly O Gymkhana.
The plot revolves around four women who learn that someone is dead at the start of the almost two-minute trailer for the film. The corpse around each of the few women who deal with a lot of turmoil is Prabhu Deva.
Actors Madonna Sebastian, Abhirami, Yogi Babu, Yashika Anand, and Redin Kingsley will also appear in the movie alongside Prabhu Deva. The topic of the film might have attracted a small number of viewers, but it seems that the film might not have achieved success given the already underwhelming run for Prabhu Deva.
While the concept might have good potential, the promotional campaigns for the films haven’t been fascinating. Prabhu Deva’s moves might save the film to some extent but the same old recipe cannot be replicated again and again.
The film is scheduled for a November 22nd release and given the hype for Prabhu Deva and his recent films as lead, this might be another disaster for the 51-year-old. It all comes down to November 22nd as Prabhu Deva brings a hysterical comedy playing a corpse involving four different women to theatres.
