Sam Wilson and Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross are men of contrasting ideologies. Much like Steve Rogers, the former represents individual responsibility and freedom, qualities that will likely clash with Ross’ preference of control and government oversight. In addition, the legacy of the Captain America Shield has been somewhat controversial in the MCU. While many believed Sam Wilson was the right man to hold the Shield, there were some people who doubted his ability to become the next Captain America in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Disney+ series. This could sow the seeds of an epic confrontation between Wilson and Ross in Captain America 4.
Moreover, Sam Wilson chose to side with Steve Rogers in Captain America: Civil War (2016) to defy the Sokovia Accords. Whereas Ross was hellbent on implementing the Accords on all Avengers, as he believed that the Earth’s mightiest superheroes and their missions needed more governmental oversight to curb the damage caused by their large-scale battles. This leads to tension that could carry over into ‘Brave New World’.
Captain America 4 stars Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbley, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, and more. Helmed by Julius Onah, Brave New World will arrive in theatres worldwide on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
