Needless to say, Cricket is often termed as a religion in India. If there are two things out of which at least one thing affects every Indian then it is cinema and cricket. Indians love both of them and they love their combination even more.
But just like every religion, cricket has also suffered through corruption. And of course, the responses were dire.
So Netflix India is bringing a documentary based on the infamous scandals of match fixing that were done in the 1990s and the 2000s. The documentary is going to be very sensational because the unraveling of this corruption shook the entire nation back then.
Be it terrorism, film piracy, or even match fixing one name that consistently pops up is that of Dawood Ibrahim. He is an infamous terrorist who needs no introduction for his harm to India.
The documentary teaser also shows the face of South African cricketer Hansie Cronje. His name was involved in match fixing and he died in a mysterious plane crash. So one can imagine the magnitude of such operations.
After the expose, there was widespread rage against the culprits.
The documentary is set to be released on the 17th of March. It is titled “Caught Out: Crime. Corruption. Cricket.”
It will be interesting to see how well this series shows the actual happenings of the scam.
