Beyond the point of agreement or disagreement, Henry Cavill is becoming one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. His association with Guy Ritchie was highly anticipated. However, the film fell flat.
In terms of action, it thoroughly delivered, but “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” didn’t perform well at the box office. The 2024 spy film had a budget of $60 million but grossed only $26.6 million, which is really low.
Regarding the plot, in late 1941, Brigadier Colin Gubbins, with Winston Churchill’s backing, initiates Operation Postmaster to sabotage Nazi U-boat resupply on the Spanish-controlled island Fernando Po. Gus March-Phillips leads a team to destroy the Italian ship Duchessa d’Aosta, using the neutral Swedish trawler Maid of Honor.
After rescuing captured SOE agent Geoffrey Appleyard, the team hijacks the Duchessa despite sabotage attempts by Nazi SS commander Heinrich Luhr, who is ultimately killed by Marjorie Stewart.
Delivering the ships to a British fleet, they face arrest but are saved and recruited by Churchill into his ‘Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.’ Their mission significantly damages Nazi naval strength, aiding the newly-joined United States in the European theatre.
Indian fans had very little opportunity to watch it in theaters, but it is soon coming to an OTT platform. Prime Video acquired the rights to the film, and it will be available on the platform from July 25th.
