Are you craving to see more of Jonathan? Well, the John Wick series is alive and firing on all cylinders! We already know about the spin-off project, Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, and The Continental series. However, things have certainly spiced up in the JW universe after the announcement of John Wick 5, which is in the early developmental stage. Yes, Keanu Reeves will return to portray the iconic, lethal, and legendary hitman.
Lionsgate’s chairman, Joe Drake, confirmed the production of John Wick 5 in a recent earnings call. “What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spin-off that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including [John Wick 5] and including television series, The Continental, which will be airing soon. And so, we’re building out the world, and when that five movie comes, it will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.”
The franchise’s recent outing, Chapter 4, turned out to be a sensational hit for Lionsgate, earning over $428 million at the global box office and wowing viewers with lots of action and violence. We saw Wick finally getting rid of the High Table in this one. So, what’s next for John?
Yeah, we saw John slowly collapsing on the staircase and succumbing to his injuries during the final moments of Chapter 4. However, the recent announcement has changed everything. It seems like Lionsgate is not letting go of its golden goose anytime soon.
Spin-off Ballerina will revolve around Rooney (Ana de Armas), who tries to hunt down the people responsible for killing her family. Alongside Armas, we will see Angelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Ian McShane and the late Lance Reddick will be seen reprising their characters of Winston and Charon. And, of course, we have Keanu Reeves, who has an extended cameo appearance in the film.
Stay tuned to Binged for more updates on Keanu Reeves’ John Wick 5.
