Known for portraying awkward, shy, and offbeat characters, BAFTA nominated Canadian actor Michael Cera is famous for playing roles like Evan in ‘Superbad’ and Scott Pilgrim in ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’. His other notable works include ‘Juno’, ‘Arrested Development’, and most recently, Tylore Taormina’s adorable holiday comedy ‘Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point’.
Next up for Cera, seems to be quite a deviation from his ventures so far. The actor is set to make his feature-length directorial debut through American director Ari Aster’s production company. Fans were overjoyed with this news, calling the duo a ‘dream team’.
Aster gained recognition after his short film ‘The Strange Thing About the Johnsons’, but rose to fame with the widespread success of his horror projects ‘Hereditary’ and ‘Midsommar’.
While no details have been made public about Cera’s debut yet, it has been described as ‘family story with mystery elements connected by and sci-fi threads’. This comes following the fact that he has previously directed three shorts – ‘B****’, ‘Failure’, and ‘Brazzaville Teen-Ager’ – and a mockumentary ‘Clark and Michael’.
Other than this, Cera will also be seen in highly anticipated upcoming features like Michael Angarano’s comedy ‘Sacramento’ as Glenn opposite Angarano himself and Kristen Stewart; the animated miniseries ‘Sausage Party: Foodtopia’; Wes Andereson’s ‘The Phoenician Scheme’, and Eric Wareheim ‘Jonty’.
