Mrinal Sen is one of the most important filmmakers in Indian cinema and now we are going to have a web series based on his life. ‘Padatik’, the web series on Sen is directed by Srijit Mukherjee and stars Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury in the role of the late director.
Srijit Mukherjee has a pretty busy schedule with his Hindi movie lineup but he has researched a lot for ‘Padatik‘. He announced the film on the director’s 99th birth anniversary and fans have been waiting for further announcements since then.
Chanchal Chowdhury is without any doubt one of the finest actors of the subcontinent and he is perfect for the role. When we can rely upon his performance, he looks so similar to Sen too. In the first look of the series, he is almost unrecognizable. Monami Sen is playing Geeta Sen, the wife of the director, and Samrat Chakroborty is playing the role of his son. Somnath Kundu, the make-up artist for most of Srijit’s films has done awesome work in this project too. He did a great job in Vinci Da and Ek Je Chilo Raja and now he has made Chanchal Chowdhury look exactly like Mrinal Sen.
Mrinal Sen is known for directing films like ‘Kharij’, ‘Bhuvan Shome’, ‘Padatik’, ‘Genesis’, ‘Khandhar’. Sen, a winner of multiple national awards and Filmfare awards had his films screened in many international film festivals including Cannes and won many awards too. The name of his bio series is taken from his own film ‘Padatik’ that tells the story of a political activist and his love life and emotional dilemmas. ‘Padatik’ will be an important series and fans are very excited about it. There is still no update on the reason date but it is eagerly awaited by film-buffs of India and Bangladesh.
