Viewers will see the Academy Award-winning actor, Colin Firth, in an upcoming miniseries, The Staircase. The show will be available for streaming from May 5th via the HBO Max streaming platform. The duo of Antonio Campos and Maggie Cohn has served as its creators with the former helming six out of eight episodes. Leigh Janiak has handled the directing duties of the remaining episodes. The streaming service is planning to dispatch the first three episodes simultaneously on the show’s global premiere date. After that, other episodes will arrive every week. But we also know that HBO Max is not available in India. So, where can we watch this miniseries? Here is what we know about it.
HBO Max comes under the jurisdiction of Warner Bros Discovery. And the majority of prominent WB shows and movies are available on Amazon Prime Video. However, a good total of HBO originals are also a part of Disney+ Hotstar. Shows like Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, The Wire, and many more can be binged-watched on the streaming service. But if we compare these two gigantic OTT services, then it is best to go with Prime Video for watching The Staircase. Although, Amazon Prime Video has not yet announced anything regarding the forthcoming crime drama series. But we have seen many HBO Max shows becoming a part of APV in the past. The latter’s social media accounts have not yet teased the show or bestowed its trailer to the viewers. So, the chances of the series’ release on APV on May 5th are low. Still, we may get it on the OTT platform in future.
The miniseries takes its inspiration from Jean-Xavier de Lestrade’s true-crime documentary series of the same name (2004). Firth will play Michael Peterson in the show. He is a talented writer but gets accused of his wife’s murder. Her dead body is found under the staircase of their house.
