While Marvel Studios has had hits and misses this year, it has ended 2022 with a very successful ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, a movie released on November 11th which is still topping the Box Office. Now, with lots of anticipated projects up for release next year, let’s take a look at them and their announced or tentative release dates:
Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania- Feb 17
Above everything else like the comedic Scott Lang, his friends, and their journey to the Quantum realm, what fans are most excited about for the movie is to see more of Kang as an antagonist. The movie is expected to set the stage for ‘Avengers 5: Kang Dynasty’.
What If Season 2- Early 2023
While ‘What If Season 1’ did start off slow, the last two episodes more than made up for it giving the series a solid conclusion. A fresh venue to try out everything the studio can’t make a movie on or show in the main timeline, the animated show was a much-needed break from all the big-budget movies and series from Marvel. Season 2 is expected to tell more good stories set in the MCU’s multiverse.
Secret Invasion- Early 2023
This series may be the most anticipated one among the lot. Consisting of six episodes, the series will follow the events of shapeshifting aliens called Skrulls(seen in Captain Marvel), infiltrating all aspects of life on Earth. Fans of the comics are hyped up to see how the interesting comic book story will transpire on screen. Also yes, we will get to see Daenerys Targaryen aka Emilia Clarke in the MCU!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3- May 5
In James Gunn we trust. The man has given us two critically and commercially successful movies of the misfit heroes and an emotionally charged Disney+ Christmas special. The movie will be his last collaboration with Marvel Studios before he completely goes on to lead competitor DC Studios, and if its trailer is any indication, Gunn is all set to break our hearts watching the end of the trilogy.
Echo -Mid 2023
Taking place after the events of ‘Hawkeye’ in New York City, the series will follow Maya Lopez returning to her hometown in Oklahoma, where she must come to terms with her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace her family and community. Besides Echo, we will also get to see Kingpin and Daredevil in the series.
Loki Season 2- Mid 2023
Tom Hiddleston as Loki. That’s just about it. What more do you want to watch the series? His portrayal of the Norse God Of Mischief is ‘glorious’ and so was the new entrant Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie. Just give us more of these two Marvel. And we’ll give you a blockbuster show.
The Marvels- July 28
The Marvels is a feature film and will be a sequel to 2019’s box office juggernaut ‘Captain Marvel’. Besides Carol Danvers, we will get to see Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau( Wandavision) as well in the movie.
Ironheart- Late 2023
We about a month ago got introduced to Riri Wiliams in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. A skilled inventor and engineer, the character is getting her own TV series on Disney+ Hotstar. Parker Robbins / The Hood is also set to be introduced into MCU through the series.
X Men ’97- Late 2023
The series is a revival/reboot of the 1992 animated series ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’, and the plot will continue where the original series left off. Not much has been revealed yet regarding the series as of now.
