Two Bengali comedy projects have been announced today and fans are quite excited. One is a web series from Hoichoi and one is a movie produced by SVF.
The movie is a sequel for the acclaimed movie ‘Cheeni‘. It is directed by Mainak Bhaumik and stars actors like Madhumita, Aparajita Adhya, Anirban Chakroborty, Soumya Mukherjee and many more. The music of the movie is directed by Mainak Mazoomdar. It will be releasing on the 11th August.
The web series is named ‘Dugdugi’, and is directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the filmmaker known for ‘Detective’, ‘Gora’ and ‘The Eken’. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Padmanabha Dasgupta and it is based on the novel of the same name by Ullas Mallick. Dugdugi is a romantic comedy and tells the story of a regular office goer man and his boring life and what things he goes through in his life. The series will be premiering on Hoichoi on the 28th of July.
Cheeni, which released in 2020, was the story of a mother and daughter whose roles suddenly switch as the daughter comes home to take care of the mother. They try to understand the perspective of each other. It is a family drama and a very entertaining watch.
It is a great news for fans of Bengali Comedies. ‘Cheeni’ itself is available to watch on Hoichoi. Today a teaser for Dayaa, a Telugu series based on the Hoichoi show ‘Taqdeer’, was released. Hoichoi has been quite successful this year with its unique productions. The partnership between Hoichoi and SVF is going well so far and hopefully we will be able to witness a few more releases from the two production houses.
