Maddock Films has dropped the trailer of its upcoming highly awaited film ‘Chhaava’ starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. ‘Chhaava’ is helmed by Laxman Utekar and is all set to hit the bug screens on 14th February, 2025.
The trailer is set during the reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj who goes all out against the then Mughal ruler Aurangzeb to protect his Maratha empire. On the outset, the story is very much like any other tale of the time where a brave Indian ruler with all his wisdom and valour launches an all out war against the foreign forces trying to invade and attack their freedom.
‘Chhaavaa’ trailer is kind of a mix bag where certain parts work great like the action sequences in the jungle, Vicky Kaushal’s “Har Har Mahadev” chant and Akshaye Khanna’s transformation as Aurangzeb. But on the other hand a lot of it just falls flat, for example most of the dialogue delivery by Vicky, the extremely poor CGI lion and VFX in some portions and a lot of unnecessary shouting. Also, Rashmika’s role as Maharani Yesubai does not seem to offer anything new.
Moreover, there is a lack of cohesion in the trailer that could have been done better with a sharper edit and cut. Overall, the trailer fails to live up to the hype created by previously launched impressive promotional material for ‘Chhaava’.
‘Chaava’ is one of the most hotly anticipated films of the year and is directed by Laxman Utekar who has adapted the story and screenplay alongside Rishi Virmani, Kaustubh Savarkar, Unman Bankar, and Omkar Mahajan. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Vineet Kumar Singh, Diana Penty, and Santosh Juvekar.
