After a spate of disheartening delays, the eagerly anticipated Telugu language action-drama movie ‘Acharya’ starring veteran actor Chiranjeevi, and Ram Charan is finally releasing on the big screens today. As the big-ticket film is gearing up for its theatrical release in a few hours, several reports about its post-theatrical streaming rights on OTT are doing the rounds on social media platforms.
It is being reported that Acharya’s streaming partner is none other than the OTT giant Amazon Prime Video and the film will start streaming on the streaming platform after completing its theatrical run. It is safe to assume that a big-budget film like ‘Acharya’ would have been acquired by an OTT platform for a massive amount. Although the exact figure is currently not known.
‘Acharya’ will most likely start streaming on Amazon Prime Video after completing at least 4 weeks of its theatrical run. But that might also depend on the film’s commercial performance.
How the film performs during its theatrical run would naturally depend on how well the movie has been made, and more importantly, on how well it will be received by the audiences. Initially, the enticing star power of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, who is still basking in the glory of RRR’s super success, would certainly help the film garner decent box office numbers.
Written and Directed by Koratala Siva, ‘Acharya’ is touted to be an action drama with a social message. The film’s basic plot is ostensibly centered around Chiranjeevi’s character, who fights against a savage land mafia and a corrupt department in his village.
‘Acharya’ brings the celebrated father-son duo of Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi on-screen again after S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster ‘Magadheera’ and subsequently in the action-comedy ‘Bruce Lee – The Fighter’. ‘Acharya’ also features Pooja Hedge and Sonu Sood in important roles.
