Chiyaan Vikram’s ‘Cobra’ is one of the most awaited films of recent times. The Tamil language action thriller film has been generating massive hype ever since the film was announced and its first posters released. This evening, Seven Screen Studios, producers of Cobra, delighted Chiyaan Vikram fans by finally announcing the theatrical release date of the film. ‘Cobra’ releases in theatres on August 11, just in time for the long weekend of Nariyal Purnima (Raksha Bandhan) and Independence Day.
Cobra is a special film for many reasons. For one, it marks the debut of popular cricketer Irfan Pathan in the world of films. Cobra is also the Tamil films debut for Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew and Kannada actress Srinidhi Shetty (of KGF and KGF Chapter 2 fame).
The stylish action thriller has Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role, and the suave actor will be seen in multiple looks – some say 25 different looks! Vikram is reportedly playing a mathematical genius in the film, who sports multiple identities – Cobra, Adheera, and so on. He uses his mathematical skill to commit intelligent crimes. Irfan Pathan plays a police officer hot on the heels of Cobra, while Roshan Mathew is apparently the primary antagonist in the film.
Cobra is directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu. Its music is composed by Academy Award winning composer, A R Rahman. All of the above prove it loud and clear why ‘Cobra’ is such a keenly anticipated film for film buffs. The film was delayed several times due to unforeseen circumstances. There were even rumours that Cobra would skip theatres and release directly on OTT. However, all that is in the past. The time has come for audiences to feast their eyes on the action thriller, ‘Cobra’.
