Choose Love This Weekend, With These 10 Must-Watch Romance Films

1. Sita Ramam (Telugu) – Prime Video

Set in 1964, Lieutenant Ram (Dulquer Salman), an orphan army officer serving at the Kashmir border, gets anonymous love letters from Sita Mahalakshmi(Mrunal Thakur). Ram is on a mission to find Sita and propose his love. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, the movie is to release on September 9th on OTT after a successful inning at the box office in the South, while it still runs in theatres in the Hindi belt.

2. Hridayam ( Malayalam) – Disney+ Hotstar

From carefree college days to becoming a successful wedding photographer, this coming-of-age story depicts the colors of Arun Neelakandan’s (Pranav Mohanlal) exciting life. Costarring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran, this Vineeth Srinivasan directorial has a very mature and realistic take on romance that elevates the film.

3. 96 (Tamil) – ManoramaMAX

Ramachandran (Vijay Sethupathi) first met Janaki (Trisha) when they were in school and has been in love with her since. Seeing her again, 22 years later at a school reunion, Ram is overcome by feelings of nostalgia and longing for his childhood sweetheart.

4.Dum Laga Ke Haisha (Hindi) – Prime Video

Prem (Ayushmann Khurrana) is a shy music buff who runs a tape recording shop. Sandhya (Bhumi Pednekar) is about to carve a niche for herself as a teacher. A normal arranged marriage turned out to be a perfect match that neither of them had expected it to be.

5. O Kadhal Kanmani (Tamil) – Prime Video

O Kadhal Kanmani is a 2015 Mani Ratnam film starring Nitya Menen, Dulquer Salmaan, and Prakash Raj. Two youngsters Adi and Tara are attracted to each other when they meet at a wedding. Since they do not believe in marriage, they decide to live together.

7. Ohm Shanthi Oshaana (Malayalam) – Disney+ Hotstar

Pooja Mathew, a spirited young girl, dreams about marrying only for love. Thus, she stops at nothing to impress Giri, who saved her once from a group of unruly men. This heart-warming touching movie is held in place by delightful direction by Jude Anthony Joseph and magnificent performances of Nasriya Nasim and Nivin Pauly.

8. Ennu Ninte Moideen (Malayalam) – Disney+ Hostar

Based on the lives of Kanchanamala (Parvathy Thiruvothu) and political activist Moideen (Prithviraj Sukumaran ), here’s a story of doomed love between two people forced apart by their different religions. Supported by rich performances this gem is definitely worth a watch.

9. Laila Majnu (Hindi) – Zee5

Set in contemporary Kashmir, this modern-day adaptation of the classic folklore Laila Majnu revolves around the epic, yet tragic love story of two star-crossed lovers. Laila is a free-spirited girl from a traditional family and Qais is a spoilt brat. The two fall in love with each other but are unable to unite because of their feuding families. Boasting terrific performances by Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri, this one is a must-watch.

10. Sanam Teri Kasam (Hindi) – Zee5

Sanam Teri Kasam is a romantic tragedy displaying the pursuit of eternal love. The movie is based on a love story between Saru & Inder played adeptly by Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane. Saru is a geek who is desperately looking for a husband due to her family’s pressure for marriage. Saru meets Inder who changes her life and their love story blossoms. The film is a modern rendition of the novel Love Story by Eric Segal.
