Fans of Nintendo’s cult ‘Mario’ video game series might already be aware of the fact that an animated feature film adaptation ‘Super Mario Bros.’ is in the works with Hollywood actor Christ Pratt essaying the titular role. Earlier, the film’s release date was scheduled to be 21st December 2022. However, the theatrical release for the ‘Mario’ movie ‘Super Mario Bros.’ has now been delayed to 7th April 2023.
Besides Chris Pratt as Mario, ‘Super Mario Bros.’ will also feature Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, amongst others as the voice cast members. The latest film adaptation is being helmed by Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath.
Chris Pratt’s Mario movie ‘Super Mario Bros.’ will be the third feature film adaptation of the Mario game series. Because previously, two more films namely the Japanese anime ‘Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach! (1986) and a live-action movie ‘Super Mario Bros.’ (1993) were released. After the latter proved to be a critical and commercial failure, the Japanese video game giant Nintendo became more cautious and selective about granting licenses for film adaptations.
Chris Pratt, who was last seen in Amazon Prime Video’s sci-fi actioner ‘The Tomorrow War’, has a slew of forthcoming projects lined up. The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ actor will next be seen in ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, Amazon series ‘The Terminal List’, James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special’, and another animated film ‘Garfield’. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the Chris Pratt starrer ‘Super Mario Bros.’
