CinemaCon 2025: Amazon MGM Reveals James Bond, He-Man & Gosling’s Film

Day 3 of CinemaCon 2025 belonged entirely to Amazon MGM Studios, thanks to its major announcements and a brand-new slate of exciting upcoming projects. From high-octane action to suspenseful thrillers and beloved adaptations, the event showcased star-studded casts, innovative storytelling, and a range of cinematic experiences set to hit screens soon.

Here’s a rundown of the highlights from Amazon MGM Studios, revealing the buzzworthy projects already generating anticipation.

The Accountant 2 (April 25, 2025)

A promotional event for The Accountant 2 featured Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and director Gavin O’Connor. An exclusive preview of the sequel was shown at the event.

Given the film’s impending release and existing trailers, the preview didn’t reveal much new footage. However, the opening segment, showcasing Affleck’s character, Christian, struggling with social interactions and attempting to flirt, proved particularly entertaining. This comedic portrayal of Christian’s awkwardness was well-received by the audience and aligned with the established tone of the sequel.

Masters of the Universe (June 6, 2026)

A behind-the-scenes featurette of the Masters of the Universe live-action movie was also screened at CinemaCon 2025. The clip showcased various props still in development. Additionally, the featurette included commentary from the film’s creators, who emphasised their commitment to producing a movie that faithfully reflects the beloved animated series and toy line.

The movie stars Nicholas Galitzine (He-Man), Morena Baccarin (Sorceress of Castle Grayskull), Idris Elba (Duncan, aka Man-At-Arms), Alison Brie (Evil-Lyn), Camila Mendes (Teela), Jared Leto (Skeletor), and many more.

Crime 101 (2025)

Halle Berry and Chris Hemsworth promoted their new movie, Crime 101, by presenting an impressive trailer. The film appears to be a stylish crime thriller, blending the sophisticated heist elements of Ocean’s 11 with the intense violence of Heat. The storyline follows Mark Ruffalo, portraying a seasoned detective, as he pursues a group of thieves, including characters played by Hemsworth, Berry, and Barry Keoghan.

The film also features talents such as Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, Tate Donovan, and more.

Untitled New James Bond 007 Movie

Amazon provided a brief statement regarding its future James Bond projects, affirming its dedication to respecting the character’s established history while introducing a new chapter. While more detailed information was expected, the statement suggests a deliberate and unhurried approach to developing the franchise— a positive sign for fans.

Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie (February 20, 2026)

Based on Leonie Swann’s 2005 novel, Three Bags Full will be a live-action animated project starring Hugh Jackman, Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, and more. Its teaser was also unveiled at the event.

Mercy (January 23, 2026)

An exclusive new trailer for Mercy was shown, revealing Chris Pratt portraying a character in a technologically advanced setting, who is restricted to a chair and must clear his name. The film appears to be an action-packed, entertaining cinematic experience. It also stars Rebecca Ferguson and Annabelle Wallis.

After the Hunt (October 10, 2025)

The trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming thriller, After the Hunt, was screened at CinemaCon 2025, featuring Andrew Garfield, Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Michael Stuhlbarg, and more.

The trailer presented a tense scenario where Garfield’s character is accused of assaulting Edebiri’s character, sparking a media frenzy when attorney Roberts takes on the case. The preview suggests a suspenseful and unsettling film, maintaining an air of mystery about the events of the night in question. The project appears to be noticeably different from Guadagnino’s previous works.

Verity (May 15, 2026)

Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett appeared in a video to present the debut trailer for Verity, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s popular novel. The mention of Hoover’s name elicited a negative reaction from the audience.

Despite this, the trailer itself was compelling, showcasing a suspenseful and unconventional thriller. Johnson portrays a writer delving into the Verity story, potentially becoming overly involved.

The Thomas Crown Affair (2026)

Michael B. Jordan appeared via video to express his gratitude to cinema exhibitors for the success of his directorial debut, Creed III. Soon, he surprised everyone by announcing that he would be helming a remake of the classic MGM film, The Thomas Crown Affair, slated for a 2026 release.

Project Hail Mary (March 20, 2026)

Ryan Gosling took the stage to present Project Hail Mary, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Soon after, both directors joined Gosling as well.

The trailer for the movie revealed a compelling sci-fi thriller, featuring Gosling as an unwilling astronaut tasked with a crucial space mission to save humanity.

Project Hail Mary, adapted from Andy Weir’s popular novel and written by Drew Goddard, appears to blend humour with emotional depth. With Lord and Miller’s directorial style, this tone seems appropriate. The film is scheduled for release on March 20, 2026.
