“Citadel” ,is a global phenomenon, is now helmed by the acclaimed creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.
“Citadel Honey Bunny”, promises to give the audience a pure adrenaline rush and from time to time our quirky spy characters are giving us some comic relief as well.
But, being a part of the “Citadel” universe which is already star studded, this series is no exception, Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Pardhu dazzling the audience with their action packed thrilling performance .
But the main attraction of this series is not the actors but the character “Honey and Bunny”.
These quirky characters, providing comic relief amidst the show’s tension, resonated instantly with audiences, and that’s all because of Raj and DK’s direction.
Being a part of Russo Brother’s famous “Citadel” franchise it was a very witty choice to take Raj and DK as the creator of “Citadel Honey Bunny”.
Because, previously we have seen DK and Raj creating web series like “Guns and Gulabs”, “Farzi” and “Family Man” all of them are very successful thriller series.
In this particular series, featuring “Samantha” as a spy with some extraordinary action skills surely resonated with the Indian audience.
A relief-less, dark, tense thriller might not work very well for Indian audiences. We have seen many wonderful projects flop for this reason.
What Raj and DK do perfectly is they spice up their thrillers with comedy and romance, having tried their hands in movies of these genres previously.
Honey Bunny will be a lot better not because it is a part of Citadel but because it can work like a solo show by Raj and DK.
Also, this will affect the duo’s possibilities in Hollywood. As Priyanka Chopra or Irrfan Khan had become the go-to actors for Hollywood, Raj & DK might be the go to filmmakers for any other projects like this.
As Raj & DK’s contribution to spy thrillers are undeniable and being a part of this globally famous series which now has an Indian version, we must say they have done some good writing , directing and as well as some well timed humour.
Although IMDb gave “Citadel Honey Bunny” is 77% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes , the audience is showing much love to Samantha’s solid action, but this also proves that this series had some room for improvement.
If you haven’t watched “Citadel Honey Bunny” till now, what are you doing streaming on Amazon Prime, go watch it right now.
