Talking about the box office run of Civil War, it opened with a bombastic $2.9M in Thursday previews just from the USA markets. Just with this number, they had their biggest ever preview, but A24 might not stop here.
Look, A24 films aren’t really popular for their box office run, but Civil War has all the potential to give them their biggest ever opening. Talking about the weekend, it could go as strong as $20M-$25M, or even reach the podium of $30M.
Previously, their Everything Everywhere All at Once grossed the $100M mark, but that too got very late exposure. However, the love for Civil War doesn’t look like anything that has happened with A24 movies before. Even India is getting a release of Civil War on 19th April, which is definitely something very odd; most A24 films are delayed by months over here.
