Joining the trend of remaking classic Hollywood films, a remake of Clint Eastwood’s classic spaghetti western “A Fistful of Dollars” is on the horizon. Euro Gang Entertainment, co-founded by industry veterans Simon Horsman and Gianni Nunnari, will produce alongside Jolly Film, the original film’s 1964 production company.
‘A Fistful of Dollars’ follows a mysterious gunslinger who stumbles into a Mexican town split by two feuding families. He manipulates them against each other for his own gain but also helps a woman along the way. After a bloody showdown, he rides off with a pocketful of cash, leaving the town to rebuild itself.
This iconic Clint Eastwood starrer boosted the popularity of Spaghetti Western projects in Hollywood during the late 1960s and 1970s. Many believe that the film is loosely inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s Yojimbo (1961).
No details about the upcoming remake have been revealed yet. It will likely be an English-language remake, according to some early reports. However, nothing has been announced so far about this scenario.
Led by the veteran Clint Eastwood, the original ‘A Fistful of Dollars’ starred Marianne Koch, Josef Egger, Wolfgang Lukschy, Gian Maria Volonte, Daniel Martin, Bruno Carotenuto, and Benito Stefanell. It has a 98% ‘fresh’ score on Rotten Tomatoes based on nearly 50 certified reviews. Stay tuned for more updates.
