An adaptation of Alan Alda’s 1981 film, ‘The Four Seasons’ is a romantic comedy series bringing back former co-stars Tina Fey and Steve Carell. Colman Domingo (‘Rustin’) is the latest to join the show as a series regulars.
Fey will also be teaming up with long time collaborators Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield to write the comedy. Netflix has ordered eight episodes of the series, which is produced by Universal Television and will begin filming later in 2024.
The original film, which was written and directed by Alan Alda and stars Alda, Carol Burnett, and Rita Moreno, follows three couples who vacation together every season but whose worlds are upended when one of them divorces.
Fey, Fisher, and Wigfield first worked together on the final season of ‘30 Rock’. All of them have great credits to their names. Fey’s ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ ran for four seasons and an interactive film; also season 3 of ‘Girls5eva’ (created by Meredith Scardino and produced by Fey) premiered on Netflix in March. Fisher’s ’Never Have I Ever’ ended after four seasons last year; and lastly Wigfield’s ‘Great News’ and ‘Saved by the Bell’ both ran for several seasons.
‘The Four Seasons’ is executive produced by Fey, Fisher, Wigfield, David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Jeff Richmond. Alda and Marissa Bregman will produce.
