American filmmaker Chris Joseph Columbus is renowned for having directed widely appreciated titles like ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’, the Home Alone franchise, some installments of the Harry Potter and the Percy Jackson series, and more!
Back at it again, his upcoming directorial venture ‘The Thursday Murder Club’, is all set to be produced by Steven Spielberg‘s production house, Amblin Entertainment. Industry veterans like Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Ben Kingsley have already been cast for the feature.
An adaptation of British TV host and producer Richard Osman‘s best-selling novel of the same name, the plot of the film revolves around a group of friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves entangled in a real case. Mirren will play ex-spy Elizabeth, Kingsley will play ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim, and Brosnan will play former union activist Ron.
Brosnan gained worldwide recognition for playing the charismatic spy James Bond in four features. The only recipient of both the American and the British Triple Crowns of Acting, Mirren’s career has spanned hits like ‘Golda’, ‘Red’, ‘The Queen’, and more. Academy and Grammy award-winning actor Kingsley rose to fame with his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi. He has since starred in titles like ‘Schindler’s List’, ‘Shutter Island’, and more.
While no further details have been revealed yet, the filming is set to begin in June and go all the way until September. Watch this space for upcoming updates!
