On March 7, Netflix dropped the electrifying teaser of Season 2 of “Russian Doll”. In the teaser we find Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) getting on board a super-fast train, doing time-travel, getting interspersed with psychedelic visuals of her falling down the stairway, and Alan (Charlie Barnett) plunging into a bathtub. Finally, we see a setting where Nadia Vulvokov sits at the table, taking a shot saying “When the universe fucks with you, let it!”, implying the metaphysical madness that is imminent for her and Alan.
The show will start streaming from April 20 on Netflix. “Russian Doll” makes its return after 4 years of the release of its first installment. Season 1 was highly well-acclaimed for its time distorting mishegoss alongside the comedy, mystery, drama, and thrill.
Natasha Lyonne is the executive producer and showrunner of this American comedy-drama TV series. She is the main protagonist, a software engineer struck in a time warp as the guest of honor in an ineluctable party one night in NYC. She dies now and then, rebooting the same moments at the party, reliving her 36th birthday moments. While she tries to figure out her condition, she comes across a man (Alan) who is experiencing the same thing in a different function.
Among the rest of the cast, Greta Lee is back as Nadia’s friend Maxine, Yul Vazquez is back as John Reyes, a real estate agent, and Nadia’s ex-boyfriend. And Elizabeth Ashley stars again as Ruth Brenner, a therapist and well-loved family friend of Nadia and her mother.
As for the new characters, Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy, District 9’s star Sharlto Copley, and House of cards Carolyn Michelle Smith have joined the cast for Season 2 but their roles haven’t been disclosed yet.
