Coming Up, ‘Airplane Mode’, A Netflix Original That’ll Resonate With Every Mobile Phone Addict

Netflix is poised to release its latest Original film, Airplane Mode, a film that’ll resonate with every mobile phone addict ever. The movie is a Brazilian feature, and stars Larissa Manoela and Erasmo Carlos in primary roles.

Ana (Larissa Manoela) is a young digital influencer, who cannot survive even for a minute without her mobile phone. She doesn’t even mind being pulled up for traffic violations, because she won’t put away her phone even when she’s driving.

The narrative takes a hilarious and intriguing turn when her destructive habit causes her Ana to crash her car. As punishment, she is packed away to her grandfather Germano’s (Erasmo Carlos) farm, and her smartphone is taken away from her.

How Ana copes with her forced digital detox forms the rest of the narrative. Will she go crazy with the enforced absence of social media in her life? Or will she emerge, reformed and rejuvenated?

If at all, the story is eminently relatable to almost every young person today. In fact, we would recommend this kind of digital detox as punishment to every violator of social rules.

Airplane Mode is written by Renato Fagundes, directed by César Rodrigues and produced by Luiz Noronha, Cecilia Grosso and Samanta Moraes of production house, A Fábrica.

Airplane Mode premieres on Netflix on January 23, 2020.
