We had earlier informed our readers about the reboot of Pretty Little Liars in the making. Now it’s officially confirmed — the reboot of the hit show has been titled Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, and it has been ordered as a straight to series at HBO Max.
The reboot is much darker and edgier than the 2010 original series. It takes place twenty years after the tragic events at the end of the original Pretty Little Liars, when a series of disasters threatened to shatter the town of Millwood. Now, twenty years later, a group of teen girls is being terrorised by an unknown enemy, and forced to pay for their parents’ deeds committed 20 years ago.
Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be presenting the fresh take on Pretty Little Liars. Aguirre-Sacasa is also the one behind other well known shows such Glee, Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, Katy Keene, among others.
Warner Bros creation Pretty Little Liars quickly caught the fancy of young adults, upon release in 2010. The mystery thriller garnered huge fan following across the globe, catapulting its lead cast, Lucy Hale, Tyler Blackburn, Shay Mitchell and Tyler Blackburn, among others, to star status.
Shared Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, “Roberto and Lindsay are expanding the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ universe with more murder, mysteries, and scandal, and we can’t wait.”
Like the original Pretty Little Liars, ‘Original Sin’ will also be adapted from Sara Shepard’s bestselling series of books of the same name.
