Confusion Prevails On Digital Launch Of Star’s Blockbuster

Fans of Tamil star Thalapathi Vijay are waiting eagerly for the launch of their favourite’s latest successful movie Bigil online. It was set to arrive digitally in the last week of November, but it still hasn’t come out.

Recently, a case was filed in Telangana High Court regarding the stalling of the digital debut.

An up and coming director, Nandi Chinni Kumar, filed a petition stating that Bigil violated a copyright agreement. The movie, according to him, bears a striking resemblance to the life of footballer Akhilesh Paul. Kumar holds the right to make a movie on him.

Kumar had filed the case in court long ago. It was even before the release of the movie Bigil. But the court did not allow injunction on the theatrical arrival. They did, however, consider barring the production from any online streaming on any platform. Since Amazon Prime Video holds the rights, they can’t stream the movie until the issue is solved.

Bigil, starring Vijay, was supposed to stream from December 13, but there is no clarity yet. We are only days away from the premiere date now. The issue still remains unsolved.

Siddartha Toleti: Perennially besotted with movies, I can’t imagine a day going by without watching one. Passion led to film reviews. The evolution has brought me on the digital platform. Alternatively, I love listening to music from the golden era of Hindi cinema, and Maestro Ilaiyaraja.
