The official title teaser of Thalaivar 171 is out now. The movie is titled ‘Coolie’ and it is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie is being produced under the banner of ‘Sun Pictures’.
The teaser is high on adrenaline, very typical of Lokesh Kanagaraj. The cinematography looks just awesome. The colour grading is apt for the subject and the BGM by Anirudh Ravichander is a banger. The teaser is black and white and the shining gold glitter in all the hueless darkness. It shows a garage where a group of gangsters are collecting and sorting huge amounts of gold accessories. Suddenly there is a knock at the door and the gangsters get ready with all the weapons. Rajinikanth makes a mass entry, and the scene ensures huge whistles and claps for the theaters. He beats down the gangsters and in his arm, there is an armlet that has ‘Coolie’ written on it. The 73 year old actor comes with swag and says ‘Father and grandfather came and went. What is wrong? Which is right? play your game always. They will curse you a wretched fellow, don’t get them wrong. Don’t brush aside pleasure whatever path you choose. If there is enough food, wine, women, comfort and ideal mindset, even a place even in heaven is assured.’
The Coolie armlet looks like a tribute to Amitabh Bachchan. As we all know, Rajinikanth is a huge admirer of the Big B, and the whole movie might be a tribute to the superstar. Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Coolie’ came out in 1983 and was a huge hit.
The director had previously clarified that the movie will not be a part of LCU. The cast includes other actors like Sivakarthikeyan, Raghava Lawrence, and there are rumours that Kamal Hassan and Shruti Hassan may also join the movie.
